My name is Petra Lechner I am born and living in Germany. I am a studied Physiotherapist and I am working as teacher on a medical school. At the age of 7 I started painting and I specialized in Portraits and Landscapes.

When my son was born in 1993 - I was so much touched by the magic of babies that I had the wish to keep the time in pictures and I drew and photographed him many many times. At this time I had no Idea where my way would lead me some day, but I was often thinking " what a great memory it would be to have a 3 dimension pic of him for the future.

 I started doll making in 1998 - inspired by dolls from the British artist Christine Orange. - and someday I had the wish to learn how to sculpt this dolls. So I started sculpting and did my first 4 dolls in 1998. But it was not really making me happy so I stopped this again.

 Again touched by the magic of babies I started early 2001 with reborning and did this for about 3 years with great success. In 2003 I got tired to reborn always the same doll faces, and I began sculpting my own babies, stopped reborning - and I got my first doll reproduced in Porcelain later the same year. It was wonderful to create own expressions
without any limitation. Everything was possible and sculpting became a passion that never left me again. Its now a part of my life, and I think its like a drug. once started you cant stop again.
